retail therapy not!

i decided to make a pact with myself. nomore shopping for the next 6 months. hmm okay, maybe only 1 item per month. haha. looking through my wardrobe, i realised that only half of what i have had been worn. not just clothes, the same goes for shoes and accessories as well. i wonder when i developed this addiction to shopping, i must buy something, gets worse and the stuff gets more expensive the happier/sadder/stresser i am! therapy indeed!

i have clothes bought dated back to last june with the tags still on. sure i love to play dress up for work but sometimes i cant bear to wear the new and nicer clothes cos i know i will only wear it once and i will wanna save it for another occasion. i know, i 'm weird. maybe i am waiting for the clothes to be passe first. hee! i have abt 10 dress unworn, millions of accessories unused and maybe 4 pairs of shoes still in boxes. i used to be very excited about wearing my new stuff but now i am always trying to save them for a better occasion. too damn weird.

i love to dress up for work, i take pride in the way i look and i like to look well put together. i will not repeat my clothes for at least 3 weeks. i will wake up earlier so that i have enough time to get ready. i really cannot stand how people do not shower in the morning and how they just put on some rubbish and head to work thinking that natural is the best? surely, there's a mirror in your house? how can anyone be that lazy? i really dont get it. it irks me to smell some oily head in the train in the a.m, i mean seriously, its not the best damn thing to get your attention first thing in the morning. Okay, so i side tracked for abit but i cldn't help it. i just had to pen it down! it sure is fine if you don't want to dress up but please at least be clean and smell-free!

there's a club21 bazaar end of May, will i survive it? will i be able to resist the GSS? and post GSS - Mango and Zara sales? tsk tsk... i wanna laugh as i am writing this, i dont even trust myself. oh man....lunch hour is gonna be so god damn boring from now on. :(

lets hope i put on something new for work tomorrow!

my favourite person in this world

she is kind. she cooks splendidly well. she is compassionate. she is generous. she is forgiving. she is everything good you can ask for in a person. she is none other than my granny. i am deeply saddened that after living a good life of 72 years, she needs to be put under the knife to rectify her current situation. we have gone through so many docs for her and finally a specialist in orthopedics confirmed that she really needs to be put through her worst fears of going for an operation. with her heavy smoking background and old age, the odds were pretty risky.

the days following up to her op, she was trying very hard to be positive about it. visits were always filled with laughter while she jokes about how putting screws in her will allow her to still go to genting (her favourite place) for another good 20 years :) i know she was trying to brush it off and not appear to be afraid just so she doesn't worry us. she tried very hard to be brave about it. She cldn't even carry out her favourite hobby of playing mj, she could not even hold her ciggie between her fingers, she had to bend down to bring her mouth to her food because her hands just cldn't be lifted any higher. but she still insists on doing all this on her own. she told me smiling that she didn't want to be a useless person and be a chore to us. agreeing to go for the op was only because the doc told her that in the months to come, she would need to be wheel chair bound as her legs were acting up too.

the fateful day came for all things good to happen. while i was happy and relieved that some help can be done for her, i was also extremely heartbroken that she was to be put through so much pain. she cried as she was wheeled into the operating theatre. it was the hardest thing for me to stomach ever. the op took longer than expected. 9.30 am til 5ish. it was hell of a torturous wait. the op was thank god - successful. it took longer because they wanted to put more screws so that she doesn't need to be put through another op. she was strong enough for it :)

she is in ICU now. recovering. maybe a good one week or so. she held my hand when i went in to speak to her. she told me that i shouldn't come since i had to work. she was still thinking for others with all the tubes and machines around her. i hate the hospital really. it's cold and un-human. it's just a place filled with mostly sad people mourning for their loved ones. i never liked to go to hospitals. not even for child births.

so the doctor didnt promise that she will be back to normal post-op but he did say it will help her situation. i pray everyday for her speedy recovery. i look forward to 6pm everyday because i can't wait to go and see her. i love her, she is not useless, she is not a burden, she is my much loved ma ma.

holi-yay!

i am too happy! booked myself for bali and melbourne. i guess these 2 places will be my visits for '09. maybe i'll try to squeeze in bkk if the price is good :) with the economy being so bad and all, it's really a good time to travel. fares are really dropping like it's hot man! my bali airfare is like urm FOC! yep for real. while i am faithfully counting down to my holidays, i find myself fighting to stop shopping. sighhhh, lunch breaks are gonna be so boring now. i don't even know why people tell me - its all good, save money when i am actually saving for more damaging shopping in oz!!!

whenever i'm having a bad day, i'll just turn to retail therapy. it really does make me feel better. i'll use the thoughts of the sun, sand and sea to curb my urge to shop to make march a breezy month. :)

there're just too many places i wanna visit.

i wanna visit cambodia to see amazing angkor wat.

i want to go to paris with a loved one cos it's just so damn romantic.

i want to my bring my folks to china so that they can finally visit the great wall and forbidden city.

i would like to go to spain to see some flamenco dancers.

i would also like to go to santorini to check out the beaches.

i would love to go back to new york for xmas! rockefeller centre is too good to miss during xmas season!

i hope i can go to the Tahiti in this lifetime to enjoy the french polynesian islands.

i think that i think and hope for too much! but if in any case any of you readers are keen on any of the above, please let me know. we can plan something together.

ISFP and what are u?

my bro bugged me to do this test. he was going on about how true and famous it was and i decided to give it a go since even the presidents around the world were taking it. so it appears that i have the same personality as britney spears and ashton kutcher.... i am ISFP - the artist.

so did i think the results were true? well, yea i guess. pretty much so. i find myself nodding with glee while i skimmed through the results. i even think what i was reading knows me better than i do! here are my results - summarised. so for those of you who think you know me? think again. and for the dearer ones who know me well, i'm sure you couldn't agree more :)

ISFP strengths :
Warm, friendly and affirming by nature.
Usually optimistic.
Good listeners.
Good at dealing with practical day-to-day concerns.
Flexible and laid-back, usually willing to defer to their mates.
Their love of aesthetic beauty and appreciation for function makes them likely to have attractive, functional homes.
Take their commitments seriously, and seek lifelong relationships.
Likely to value and respect other's personal space.
Likely to enjoy showing their affection through acts and deeds.
Sensuous and earthy.

ISFP weaknesses :
Not good at long-range financial (or other) planning.
Extreme dislike of conflict and criticism.
Focused on enjoying the present moment, they may appear lazy or slow-moving at times.
Need to have their own space, and dislike having it invaded.
May be slow to show their affection with words.
Tendency to hold back their thoughts and feelings, unless drawn out.
May become overly cynical and practical.

ISFP as a friend :
Gets along with most personality types but tend to be reserved around those they don't know well.
Not likely to have patience or tolerance for those who are strongly judging.
Celebrates their difference as well as everybody elses' and don't appreciate being judge for the difference.
Generous and kind to people they care about.
Work wise - gets along with all generally well.
Shuns spotlight and do not feel the need to demonstrate their strengths.

ISFP as a lover :
Has a dept of emotion and concern which is often not obvious to others.
Appears to be light hearted but takes their relationships seriously.
With introvert personality, more vulnerable than most to being hurt, so they hold back part of themselves and do not always say what they think or feel.
Believer of actions speak louder than words.
Needs positive affirmation, affection and admiration.
Desire and seek lifelong committed relationship.
Go to great lengths to please their partner, loyal and supportive with a great capacity of love.
Value being seen and understood for who they are, detest conflict and discord.
Not totally confident enough to speak for what they need and likely to assume more blame than necessary when things turn sour.
When faced with reality and finally lets go, they become more assertive and self directed.

in a nutshell, ISFPs are artistic, creative, loyal and sensitive. They have a keen appreciation for beauty because of their highly developed senses. They are easy to get along with and live in the "here and now". ISFPs are adaptable, caring, independent and like to contribute to the well-being of others. They are typically hard to get to know.

personally i thought they were pretty spot on. i'm surprised. get your personality test done too. just click on my post title and it will link you up. i hope you brace yourself for the results if your personality is not so great :P

hippie chic

I'm really digging this hippie forehead band look. it's a pity my face is like the full moon but urm, not that i will attempt this cos i think u need to be really hot to do this. i see alot of girls these days trying to master this look. seriously, to rock this look, u really need to have good faceshape and strong features. u also need to have the style which i think maybe only 30% of (yawns) singaporeans have it. u really need to be able to carry it off otherwise u just look like a moron!
anyway...have a great weekend ahead. i am off for mine in 45mins! woohoo!
